Reflections

My mother placed me in an educational institution when I was five, and I remained in one ever since! However, much learning is available away from organised set-ups. Sharing experiences is a wonderful human activity.

....tik....tok....tik....tok....

The perennial ticks from the grandmother’s huge chains and weights clock carried on chopping days away, for as long as the inmates who live in the old mansion can remember.

The passing of time is often referred to as tempus fugit or, in other words: “time escapes, or flies away,” and all around grows in years and wisdom, until closing date. The notion of time also helps to underline attitudes and actions. The "best before" hallmark conditions most human activites. It is sometimes much too early to start on a new project, or much too late to give up a burdensome activity or relationship.

“Ah, fill the cup……what boots it to repeat
How time is slipping underneath our feet:
Unborn to-morrow and dead yesterday,
Why fret about them if to-day is sweet.”

In one of the quatrains in Fitzgerald’s translation of “The Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyan,” attitudes and time are closely related. The tone for an in-depth view on life, its meaning and aspirations is firmly set, albeit a view that is mondane and ego-centric. A balance is, however, established through other parts of the verses.

Most actions are conditioned by time: time up, on time, flexi-time, waste of time, time to be born, time to die, time to weep, time to laugh, time to mourn, time to dance…………….

Time is peronal property. It would be very sensible to take care of minutes and pennies, so that hours and pounds would take care of themselves.
