Reflections

My mother placed me in an educational institution when I was five, and I remained in one ever since! However, much learning is available away from organised set-ups. Sharing experiences is a wonderful human activity.

Reading.

Tutors insist on the importance of reading. But what is it they actually mean ?

It is generally believed that the vast majority of citizens can read, though, even to-day this cannot be taken for granted due to the incidence of illiteracy in many countries around the globe. The plausible reason for this might be either the individuals' fault, or their governments'. Which ever reason, millions of people could still not enjoy the present day facilities based on an amount of reading ability.

People travelling by train on their way to work on cold wintry mornings, look like gold fish in a aquarium from the stations' platforms, with the difference that they can read being visibly head immersed in the mornings' dailies.

The printed media keeps us all well posted, albeit with the slant of the editor's policies. Tons of printed material reach the newstaned on time for pick-up. The reader has the vested right to evaluate what his editors prewsent. In fact, reading the lines in the paper is only the point of departure for one's own judgment.

Newspapers aside, it is very difficult to be categorical about which branch of reading is appealing. Different types please different people, though, it looks that sometimes there is a general cry for a book. This also depends largely on the marketing strategies chosen and applied to make a book more prosperous than another.

Books can be described as man's good companion. But at times they may bring his downfall.
