Reflections

My mother placed me in an educational institution when I was five, and I remained in one ever since! However, much learning is available away from organised set-ups. Sharing experiences is a wonderful human activity.

Spring.

Spring 2009.

After long wintry days, when the skies were ominously darkened by wet clouds, spring dares to peep out of its long slumber . This brings slowly but surely life into all the living. A resurrection to life commences. True that winter envelopes all in thick warm body covers and furs, and floods the streams, rivers and roads. Thanks to such an abundance valuable fresh water and moisture are stored to help the dormant seeds to geminate at the right time, and fill all around with exotic hues and scent. There can’t be a spring without a winter. There can’t be the beauty and freshness of spring without the hardships of a long winter.

New births see the light of day after a long period hidden away in well defended shelters to come out and join the Aries cohort. Their being very positive, hard-working and extroverted make them a company one likes to have around. I know.

Perhaps that is why spring brings to mind a number of other meanings: the strength in a steel spring, the crystal clear running water rushing down the slopes of the hills in a noisy spring, besides being an inspiring force for paintings, sculptures, music, literature, drama and all the other arts. Not to mention Spring as a family name.

Remembering a few lines from Songs of Innocence and of Experience that show the two contrasting states of the human soul is befitting:
Sound the flute!
Now it’s mute.
Birds delight
Day and Night,
Nightingale
In the dale
Lark in sky
Merrily
Merrily Merrily to welcome the new year.
