Reflections

My mother placed me in an educational institution when I was five, and I remained in one ever since! However, much learning is available away from organised set-ups. Sharing experiences is a wonderful human activity.

Absolutes.

There is no such thing as an ‘absolute.’ All is relative.

Time factor, further research, circumstantial changes and geniuses reduce well anchored absolutes to doubt, to rethinking and re-evaluation. Many times empirical evidence challenges what was presumed to be the absolute.

We all thought that the world was flat. But it is not. We all believed that outer space was impregnable. It is no longer. We still presume that the only humans are on this earth. It is not absolutely certain. It all depends on one’s own perceptions and perspectives. The list is too long to be exhaustive.

This line of arguing can easily be followed if applied to other more serious themes. Take health or religion, for instance.

Consider beauty for a moment. “A thing of beauty is a joy forever,” was the poet’s assertion. Just as painting, sculpting and architecture, to mention a few, are the best and the only to the artist, sculptor and architect, respectively.

Which, of course, is a fallacy.
