Reflections

My mother placed me in an educational institution when I was five, and I remained in one ever since! However, much learning is available away from organised set-ups. Sharing experiences is a wonderful human activity.

Lip service.

Except for kissing, lip service is of little practical utility, leaving out, of course, lip reading and speech.

But as far as lengthy promises of help are concerned, lip service is sometimes second to none.

The gift of the gab, as it is commonly known, helps to convey what sounds like commital parlance, which seems indispensable to many who share the limelight on the world stage. But when the lustre and the splendour of conference halls fades away, little substance remains. Opposing groups remain at each other’s throat.

A close look at final concluding multi-lateral statements produced at the end of seminars, meetings, conferences, etc. bring forth the truth of what lip service is all about. Sometimes leaders justify the time and expense spent on many conferences by the production of statements.

World problems would vanish in thin air if instead of lip service leaders come up with concrete solutions, that put the emphasis on the doing projects instead of on the talking aspects. The absurdity of the belief that a formula suitable to all participating parties in a conference is considered a crowning success is indeed a fallacy. Its value goes as far as a face-saving equation. It is not possible to have diametrically opposing and divergent aspirations by several participants concluded to the satisfaction of one and all, by simply producing a common acceptable formula. Remove the shrouded lip service and all goes back to square one.

Lip service is also very evident at the lower end of the spectrum, such as within circles of friends, within managers and subordinates, within churches, and within most groups. The challenge remains to transform lip service into generous service.

We can do it.

Tears of freedom.

The art of crying is very complex.

Only animals can enjoy crocodile tears. Humans seem to be pushed into crying through emotions or tensions. Stress instances can be so numerous that they can hardly be all fitted in this ‘valley of tears,’ our home.

Strangely enough even laughter can induce tears. Therefore, tears are not necessarily the outcome of negative situations. But, as a general rule all seem to associate crying with sadness, as a result of sickness, bereavements, public or family mourning, breaking off of intimate relationships and calamities.

Again, crying is a most common and natural occurance with infants, toddlers and fairly older saplings. In the case of very small children, it may be safe to state that they hardly ever cry because of hilarious situations. More often than not, it is the result of feeling hungry, frustrated, feeling pain and being frightened.

With adults crying takes greater significance. The term “tears of liberation,” besides sounding very sentimental, is also very factual. The severe impact that tensions produce on the inner self, find a restful and consoling outburst in tears. Tears are, thefrefore, the safety-valves for well-being, just as the eruption of a dormant volcano releases the pressure that is inbuild within the crust of the earth. There is no doubt that the combustion that goes on where the “journey to the centre of the earth,” leads to, is enormous. The burning gases and sulphur generate geophysical expansion and tensions.

With added emotional stress crying becomes a solution. It prolongs life spans, it keeps tear ducts well watered, it adds theatrics to daily common place situations, it pleads sympathy.

Maybe that’s why the female human species, as compared with its male counterpart, lives so much longer. And that’s why too it is being discovered that the collective exercise of crying is a healthy practice.

Crying is a challenging feat for actors on stage and on screen. Evolving the characters in text that induces crying is a challenge to authors and poets. Emotions, depending on a degree of proficiency and ability, can be transmitted to an audience in very effective ways by whatever medium its creator chooses to adopt. Sometimes, to-day’s media go to elaborate strategies to make people cry.

Why is it, then that we all start our lives crying ?

Rear site.

The view from the back of hall during a presntation is very revealing and thought provoking.

SIGHT FROM BACK ROW.

Sitting listening to learned speakers
Covering challenging tomes
A wide expanse of tuned ears
Fast scribbling fingers jotting views
Committing contrasting trains of thought
Digital movements hissing around
All quiet digesting assimilating
To plan a reprisal to conflict the truth
Challenging minds at the back of the head
Colours in saying adorn the crackling air waves
Humbeis (human beings) at their best.
But some take time to conclude
What looks so easy and soluable
Takes painful acrimonious ages to include.

Passionway.

Pretty little angel sweet,
How best can I always greet?
Round behind a twinkling star,
On tiptoes thread closeby and far.

One year rolls down after another
Young and smart but now a nother,
Still evergreen mature forever
Hardly came across a finer cover.

April the month for frolic and kicks
Smiles and freshness new arrivals mix,
At work and toil with much zest
But where newcomers soon build their nests.

Carer to many a being in distress
Interminable cuts and bruises to dress,
Hard working with a smile and no complain
Meets datelines supports all and quietly strain.

But nowhere else and never before
Willing creatures always wanting more,
Time and place build hurdles fast
Not to kisses, hugs touches and gust.

Freshly coloured fashions that globes contain
Touch caress the cleft that prides its domain,
In harmony inviting though hiding
Sentiments that beholder care finding.

An open stance shows temple bare
Shining nectar spread to a fair share,
Erect and smart a pulsating pit
Praying for more as youth craves fit.

The warm and scented breath of air
Out from deep passages hidden hair,
Ornate vestals the high altar of pleasure
Blossoms of fresh jasmine for greater measure.

With the very best my darling flame
Precious and bejewelled of heavenly fame.
A celestial smile in a firmament of bliss
May be with you always – please never miss.
